Movie WordPress Themes in 2026: Film Databases and Streaming Sites
By Mark Fail · · Updated

"Movie website" can mean two quite different projects.
The first is a catalogue. Every film gets a page with the poster, cast, runtime, a star rating, your review and a trailer embedded from YouTube. The video never touches your server, so this is mostly a content job.
The second sells the films themselves. Members pay monthly or rent a title, and you have to deliver hours of HD video to every screen they own. That is an infrastructure job, and a theme only covers part of it.
I checked six options on 28 September 2026. Two are for review and database sites. The other four are for streaming and video on demand, and one of those four is our own Video theme. Prices, sales, ratings and update dates come from each seller's page, and the sources are listed at the end. Streaming budgets usually break on hosting, bandwidth, DRM and licences, so there is a short section on those before the final thoughts.
Comparison table: six movie WordPress options at a glance
| Theme | Price | Built for | Page builder | Charging viewers | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Noxe | $85 | Film and TV database | WPBakery | Not documented | IMDb-style listings and cast pages |
| GeeK! (plugin) | Free, imports metered | Film, TV and game database | Works with any theme | No | Community ratings, reviews and lists |
| StreamVid | $59 | OTT, VOD, short drama | Elementor | Subscriptions, rentals, coins, ads | Pairing with Bunny or Cloudflare Stream |
| Streamit | $199 | Netflix-style OTT | Elementor | Subscriptions | The most finished-looking catalogue |
| Vayvo | $79 | Membership streaming | Elementor | Plans, trials, pay-per-post | Subscriptions with free trials |
| PremiumPress Video | $99 one-time | YouTube-style video sites | Elementor (free) | Subscriptions, pay-per-video, ads | Creator channels and member uploads |
Noxe

Noxe from GloriaThemes is the closest thing on ThemeForest to a ready-made IMDb clone. Movies, TV shows, episodes and people each get their own listing and detail pages. On the film-database demo, a search bar with type, genre and language filters sits under the row of posters. You can pull titles in through the IMDb, TMDB and OMDb APIs instead of typing them by hand. If you would rather run a studio or festival site, there are 18+ homepage layouts.
Test the import before anything else.
One buyer wrote in the comments this summer that the IMDb integration was "very limited". When someone complained about it earlier, the author replied that the data APIs are third-party services you may have to pay for.
Noxe runs on WPBakery rather than Elementor. It costs $85, or $1,200 for the Extended licence, and has 1,120 sales with a 4.29 rating from 69 reviews on ThemeForest. The last update was on 9 May 2026.
Pros
- Separate post types and templates for movies, TV shows, episodes and cast
- Search filters by type, genre and language from the start
- Imports from IMDb, TMDB and OMDb sources
- Light and dark skins, RTL and WPML support
Cons
- Buyers have called the metadata import limited
- Needs WPBakery, which feels dated next to Elementor or the block editor
- Comments mention support replies taking three days or more
- No documented way to sell subscriptions or rentals
GeeK! Movie & Game Database

This one is a plugin. I included it anyway because it handles the database side better than most movie themes do.
It adds post types for movies, shows, episodes, people and companies. Then it imports titles from IMDb, TMDb and IGDB with cast, crew, posters, trailers and release dates, and copies that data into your own database. The front end runs as React apps over the WordPress REST API, so it works with any theme. Members can rate, review, keep watchlists and build their own top-ten lists.
Scale and cost are the weak points. The plugin is young, with 70+ active installs. Imports go through the developer's PluginPress.net "Token Services", which are metered, and I could not find a published price per token.
The demo at movie.geekplug.in loaded fine, with a trailer player and an "Up next" rail on the homepage. The plugin is free on WordPress.org, where it has a 5-star average from 11 ratings. Its last update, version 1.00.11, came out on 15 July 2026.
Pros
- Deepest data model here: cast, crew, seasons, episodes, companies
- Member ratings, reviews, watchlists and user lists built in
- Works with the theme you already have
- Imported data stays on your site
Cons
- Imports cost tokens, and the price is not on the plugin page
- Small install base, so fewer people have hit its bugs before you
- Relies on an external service for imports and account features
- Not a streaming tool, and trailers are embeds
StreamVid

StreamVid from jwsthemes gives the most honest answer to the video-hosting question of any theme I looked at. It connects to Cloudflare Stream with signed playback tokens and to Bunny.net with token-authenticated URLs. That puts the films on a video CDN instead of your web server.
There are plenty of ways to charge. Memberships run through Paid Memberships Pro, and rentals and pay-per-view go through WooCommerce. You also get VAST/VMAP video ads and a coin system for short-drama apps, which arrived in version 7.3.0. A bundled importer pulls movies and TV shows from TheMovieDB, with cast, seasons and episodes.
The demo opens on a login screen with a shared demo account. You reach the eight homepages after that.
Buyer comments show the kind of bug you only find at scale. MP4 files over 500MB crashed on publish because the plugin loaded the whole file into memory, and version 8.6.1 fixed it. StreamVid costs $59, or $1,650 Extended. It has 906 sales with a 4.55 rating from 56 reviews on ThemeForest and was updated on the day I checked, 28 September 2026.
Pros
- Built-in support for Cloudflare Stream and Bunny.net, including live streams through OBS
- Subscriptions, rentals, coins and video ads all documented
- TMDB import for movies, shows, seasons and episodes
- Eight homepages, including short-drama layouts
Cons
- Depends on Paid Memberships Pro and WooCommerce, so more plugins to maintain
- The Extended licence for a paid site is $1,650
- Recent large-file bug suggests testing with your real file sizes
- Demo sits behind a login screen
Streamit

Streamit from Iqonic Design is the best-selling movie streaming theme on ThemeForest, and it looks the part. On the demo homepage a trailer plays behind the featured title, with Play Now and Watchlist buttons and a thumbnail carousel. The menu already has Subscribe, Shop and Live TV entries. You get restricted content, watchlists and a video rating system, and the seller says the layouts work on smart TVs as well as phones.
It also costs far more than the others. The Regular licence is $199, and the Extended one a subscription service needs is $1,699.
The item page says little about how subscriptions work, but buyer comments show it runs on Paid Memberships Pro. In the last month two buyers raised security concerns. One was about Paid Memberships Pro and the other about version 4.5.0 of the theme. The author asked for details by ticket and email and did not answer in public.
Streamit has 2,734 sales and a 4.70 rating from 129 reviews on ThemeForest. The item page shows a last update of 9 July 2026.
Pros
- The most polished Netflix-style front end in this list
- Largest sales count and review base of the streaming themes
- Watchlists, ratings and restricted content included
- Author confirms TMDB import and multi-server video sources in the comments
Cons
- $199 Regular, $1,699 Extended
- Membership details are not spelled out on the sales page
- Needs WooCommerce as well as Elementor
- Recent security concerns in the comments were handled privately
Vayvo

Vayvo from ProgressionStudios puts subscriptions first. The demo header links straight to Video Library, Restricted Content and Pricing Plans, and the homepage pitch is a single "Start Your Free Trial" button.
Memberships come from ARMember, which is bundled with the theme. It handles unlimited plans, drip content, coupons and payments through PayPal, Stripe, Authorize.net and 2Checkout. Video can be self-hosted MP4 or embedded from YouTube and Vimeo.
Check one limit before you plan your prices. The author confirmed in the comments that a single video cannot sit in a subscription and also be sold on its own, so you would need two copies of it. Another buyer asked for actor pages and was told there is no native support. Vayvo costs $79, or $1,000 Extended, and has 2,000 sales with a 4.70 rating from 43 reviews on ThemeForest. It was last updated on 14 August 2026.
Pros
- Full membership plugin (ARMember) included in the price
- Free trials, drip content and coupons for subscription launches
- Cheapest Extended licence of the ThemeForest streaming themes
- Self-hosted MP4, YouTube and Vimeo sources all supported
Cons
- A video can't be in a plan and sold individually at once
- No actor or cast pages without custom work
- Self-hosted MP4 still needs somewhere fast to live
- The newest buyer comment is 11 months old, so there is little recent feedback
PremiumPress Video Theme

We make this one, so allow for some bias in what follows.
The Video theme works more like your own YouTube than your own Netflix. Members register, get a channel and upload from the front end. Viewers subscribe, like and comment.
The movie side comes from the designs. Marquee, shown above, is a dark streaming layout with a featured film, tags for year, age rating and runtime, and genre filters. There is also a Noir design for film and studio sites. You can upload videos to your server or embed them from YouTube, Vimeo or a direct MP4 link. Subscriptions, pay-per-video paywalls, featured placement and ad spots are part of the theme, with 30+ payment gateways and no membership plugin to add.
The licence works differently from ThemeForest's. One $99 payment covers unlimited sites you own, including ones that charge viewers, with 6 months of updates and support and a 14-day money-back guarantee. It has no public sales count to compare. The sales page also does not mention TMDB import, cast pages or DRM.
Pros
- Memberships, pay-per-video and ads built in, no WooCommerce or PMPro
- Front-end uploads and channels if you want creators, not only your own films
- One licence for unlimited paid sites you own
- 150+ Elementor blocks and 15+ language packs
Cons
- No documented TMDB or IMDb import for a film catalogue
- No documented Bunny or Cloudflare Stream integration, so you link MP4 files or embeds
- Updates after 6 months cost $49 per 6 months
- Sold on our site, so there is no public review count to check
What a theme can't do for a streaming site
A theme gives you the catalogue pages, the player and the paywall. It does not give you somewhere to keep feature-length video, or the bandwidth to deliver it.
A two-hour film in 1080p is several gigabytes. Serve that from a shared hosting plan to a few hundred viewers at once and the plan will struggle. Most people fix this with a video CDN. Bunny Stream lists storage from $0.01 per GB and delivery from $0.005 per GB. Cloudflare Stream charges $5 a month per 1,000 minutes stored and $1 per 1,000 minutes watched. StreamVid connects to both. With the others you use embeds or MP4 links.
DRM sits on top of all that. None of the six options here documents Widevine or FairPlay, the systems studios and distributors usually require. If your licence deals demand DRM, it has to come from the video host. Bunny's MediaCage Enterprise DRM, for example, costs $99 a month plus a fee per licence issued, starting at $0.005. Signed URLs and token authentication stop casual link sharing, but they are not DRM.
Then there is the theme licence. Envato's licence FAQ says you need the Extended licence if end users have to pay to see the end product. For the three ThemeForest streaming themes that means $1,000 to $1,699 instead of $59 to $199.
The rights to the films are your job. The Streamit author made the same point in the comments when a buyer asked about running an OTT service.
Final Thoughts: which movie theme fits your site?
For a review blog or an IMDb-style database, start with the data and think about design later. GeeK! has the most complete model and member features and costs nothing to try, as long as you can live with metered imports and a small user base. Noxe suits you if you want a finished-looking theme with listing pages and filters in one purchase. Try the import on a few titles before you commit.
For a paid streaming service with your own film library, StreamVid is the most practical ThemeForest pick. It plugs into Bunny and Cloudflare Stream and supports rentals as well as subscriptions.
Streamit looks the most like Netflix and has the biggest track record. Its price only makes sense if the design is your top priority. Vayvo, with ARMember bundled, is the simplest route to subscriptions with free trials.
Your plan might be closer to a video community than a film catalogue, with creators uploading to their own channels and viewers subscribing. Our Video theme covers that without extra plugins, and one licence covers paid sites. If you mainly want to stream licensed feature films with DRM, choose your video host first and the theme second.
