Construction WordPress Themes in 2026, Judged on What Customers Check
By Mark Fail · · Updated

Most people find a builder the same way. They search "loft conversion near me" or "kitchen fitter Leeds", open three or four sites from the map results and decide in under a minute who gets a call. In that minute they want to see jobs like theirs, proof you're licensed and insured, that you work in their area, what past customers said, and an easy way to ask for a price.
A construction theme helps with some of that and quietly skips the rest.
I went through the demos of six construction themes on 7 October 2026, four paid ones from ThemeForest and two free ones from WordPress.org, and checked each against those five needs. Prices, sales, ratings and update dates come from each theme's own listing that day. Buyer complaints come from the public comment threads, and they say more about living with a theme than any feature list. A section near the end covers what none of them do for you.

BuildPress

BuildPress from ProteusThemes is one of the oldest construction themes still sold, and its demo looks the part. Phone number, street address and opening hours sit in the header, which is what a homeowner checking you out on a phone needs first. Projects run through a filterable Essential Grid gallery, there are separate Landscape and Light versions, and current builds use Elementor with older SiteOrigin layouts still supported.
Age shows in the comments, and a few of them are worth reading before you buy.
Over the past two years buyers reported the bundled Essential Grid plugin not updating without its own licence key, Wordfence flagging two bundled helper plugins as abandoned, and a blank screen when editing projects after a PHP upgrade. One buyer said a year ago that updates kept breaking their site. Several fixes needed an active support licence first. BuildPress costs $99 and has 7,812 sales with a 4.60 rating from 466 reviews on ThemeForest, last updated on 6 October 2026.
Pros
- Contact details and hours built into the header
- Filterable projects grid
- Landscape variant for groundworks and garden firms
- Still updated, most recently the day before I checked
Cons
- Most expensive here
- Bundled plugins have caused update trouble
- Support needs a paid renewal after the first period
Renovate

Renovate is the only theme here that tries to answer "how much will it cost?" on the site itself. It ships with a cost calculator plugin, normally sold separately for $59, that has a drag-and-drop form builder, Stripe payments and 11 ready-made calculators. On the demo, Cost Calculator sits in the main menu and a "Cost of renovation" block appears straight under the hero. QuanticaLabs aims it at renovation, handyman, plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, solar and fencing firms.
A calculator suits work that is priced by the square metre or the unit, such as driveways, fencing or decking, far better than a one-off extension.
Buyer comments a couple of years back asked for file uploads and required fields in the calculator, and the answer was that it would need custom work. More recently a buyer flagged that the bundled WPBakery version lagged behind a security fix. The theme works with Elementor or WPBakery, and the author added dedicated Elementor widgets in version 9.0. Renovate costs $79 and has 6,086 sales with a 4.63 rating from 245 reviews, last updated on 11 September 2026 to version 10.5.
Pros
- Instant estimates with the bundled cost calculator
- Service pages for a long list of trades
- Elementor or WPBakery, with separate demo content for each
Cons
- Calculator can't take photo uploads without custom work
- Bundled plugin versions sometimes trail behind
- Only two home page styles
- Forms support reCAPTCHA but not Turnstile, per buyer comments
Constructo

Constructo gives you the most to choose from, with 14 demos you can import in one click. It runs on Elementor or WPBakery and the free version of Elementor is enough, which the author confirmed to a buyer this year. Projects have their own post type with filters, and one buyer asked last month how to adapt the apartment listings for a property developer. The answer was that the fields are editable.
The September updates went in an unexpected direction for a builder's theme. Version 5.1.2 added a setup wizard that stores "AI-ready company data", and 5.2.0 on 16 September added AI features and an optional MCP server so AI tools can work with the site.
That may help some firms, but most roofers will never touch it.
The comments also show a WPBakery column layout breaking after the 5.0.3 update and support delays about a year ago. Constructo costs $59 and has 7,491 sales with a 4.54 rating from 250 reviews, last updated on 16 September 2026.
Pros
- 14 importable demos
- Filterable projects plus an apartments post type
- Free Elementor is enough
Cons
- Recent releases focus on AI features most builders won't use
- Past updates broke WPBakery layouts for some buyers
- No dedicated quote form, just Contact Form 7
Structure

Structure from ThemeMove has a more corporate look than the others. Its demo opens on a London skyline, and the theme leans towards commercial contractors and factories rather than kitchen fitters. You get 16 colour schemes, six header presets, two project layouts with filters, WPML support, and bundled copies of WPBakery, Slider Revolution and Essential Grid.
WPBakery is the sticking point, and it is not going to change.
A buyer asked for an Elementor version a year ago and ThemeMove said there were no plans for one. The bundled plugins only update when the theme does, which another buyer ran into seven months ago. Older comments complain about the demo import hanging and a mobile PageSpeed score of 16 out of 100, though those are more than two years old. On the positive side, the author confirmed WordPress 7 compatibility four months ago and the theme was updated on the day before my check. Structure costs $59 and has 4,165 sales with a 4.63 rating from 273 reviews, last updated on 6 October 2026.
Pros
- Corporate look for commercial and industrial firms
- Multilingual sites through WPML
- Updated very recently and confirmed for WordPress 7
Cons
- WPBakery only, with no Elementor version planned
- Three bundled premium plugins to keep in step
- Past reports of slow mobile pages
Construction Field

Construction Field from Acme Themes has more ratings than any other free construction theme I found on WordPress.org, 38 of them, averaging 4.9. The demo puts a yellow Request a Quote button in the header and a strip with email, location, phone and opening hours along the bottom of the hero. Services, a gallery, testimonials and an FAQ block are all set up through the Customizer, with no page builder needed.
Two things temper that, and both show up in the demo.
The quote button is just a link, so you add a form plugin yourself. And the hero on the demo carries an Upgrade to Pro button next to the lorem ipsum, a reminder that the free version is also a sales funnel for the paid one. The reviews are glowing but mostly old, with the newest from about a year ago and most from four or five years back. Construction Field is free, with 1,000+ active installs and a 4.9 rating from 38 reviews, and version 4.0.0 came out on 16 July 2026.
Pros
- Free, light and set up from the Customizer
- Quote button and contact strip already in the layout
- Updated this summer
Cons
- No quote form of its own
- Pro upsells in the demo layout
- Small install base and mostly dated reviews
Construction Landing Page

This free theme from Rara Themes is built around one idea. The enquiry form sits in the hero, beside the headline, so a visitor can ask for a quote without scrolling or clicking. In the demo the form asks for name, email, phone and a message, with a big orange Request a Callback button. The phone number sits in a box at the top right. Below that come services, a portfolio, client logos and testimonials.
The form comes from Contact Form 7, which you install and paste in yourself. Rara's own demo text says so. As a single page it is quick to set up, but a builder with ten kinds of work will soon want separate service pages, and that means building them by hand. Its 20 reviews average 4.8, though the newest is three and a half years old. Construction Landing Page is free, with 1,000+ active installs and a 4.8 rating from 20 reviews, last updated on 1 April 2026.
Pros
- Quote form in the first screen
- Phone number always visible in the header
- Free and quick to set up
Cons
- One-page layout gets cramped for firms with many services
- Form needs Contact Form 7 adding by hand
- No recent reviews to judge current support
What themes miss
I searched the text of all six demo home pages for the words a nervous homeowner looks for. None mentioned being licensed or insured. None of the home pages named the areas the firm covers, and none showed before-and-after photos. Every one had testimonials or a quote button, which are the easy parts.
The licence number is not optional everywhere. In California, the Contractors State License Board says a licence number must appear in all advertising for work that needs a licence, and that includes electronic advertising. Other states and countries have their own rules, so check yours.
Put the number, your insurance cover and any trade body memberships in the footer, where they show on every page.
Service areas need real pages. A page for each town or district you work in, with jobs you have actually done there, does more for local searches than a list of place names. Keep it in step with your Google Business Profile, which lets a service-area business list up to 20 areas.
Before-and-after photos and reviews come down to process, not theme. Take the same shot from the same spot on day one and on handover day. Ask for a Google review when you hand over the keys, then show a few on the site.
Final thoughts
If you price jobs by the metre or by the unit, Renovate is the one to try, because its calculator lets people get a rough figure at midnight without phoning you. For a general builder who wants a solid all-rounder on Elementor, Constructo has the most demos at $59, as long as you ignore the AI extras. BuildPress suits builders who also do landscaping and don't mind paying $99 and keeping its bundled plugins up to date. Structure fits commercial firms that are happy on WPBakery.
On no budget, Construction Landing Page gets a quote form in front of visitors fastest, and Construction Field gives you a fuller multi-page site. Whichever you pick, budget an afternoon for the parts no theme does, which are licence and insurance details, service-area pages and real project photos.
