WordPress Themes for Photographers in 2026: Proofing, Booking and Sales
By Mark Fail · · Updated

A wedding photographer can hand a couple 600 edited frames and then wait three weeks while they email back a list of file numbers for the album. Most photography themes do nothing about that. They make the homepage look good and leave the business side of the job to you and a pile of plugins. That means proofing, selling prints or files, and taking session bookings.
There's a quieter problem too. Since version 5.3, WordPress scales any upload wider or taller than 2560 pixels down to 2560 pixels, and the resized copies your theme actually shows are recompressed. A theme with a fullscreen gallery will happily display that softer copy edge to edge.
So for this list we opened every demo on 28 September 2026. We looked for the pages a working photographer needs, which are a proofing gallery a client can use, a protected client area, a booking page and a shop.
Nine themes made it. Three from our older version of this post did not. One has been pulled from sale, and the other two haven't been updated in 18 months or more. At the end there's a short section on adding proofing to a theme you already like.
The nine photography themes side by side
| Theme | Price | Client proofing | Booking | Page builder | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photography | $69 | Yes | No | Own builder | Proofing plus a print shop |
| Novo | $79 | Yes | Yes | Elementor or WPBakery | Studios that do everything |
| Wiso | $79 | Yes | Yes | WPBakery | Wedding and family work |
| PhotoMe | $64 | Yes | No | Own builder | A simpler proofing site |
| Kimono | $45 | No | Yes | Elementor | Fashion and editorial portfolios |
| PremiumPress Stock Photography | $99 one-time | No | No | Elementor | Selling licensed downloads |
| Frame | $69 | No | Yes | Elementor | Photo and video production |
| Drone Media | $69 | No | No | Elementor | Aerial and drone operators |
| Fotografie | Free | No | No | Block editor | A first portfolio on no budget |
Photography by ThemeGoods

The name is generic, but this theme has the longest track record in the category and the most photographer-specific tools. The demo's main menu has Client, Proofing and Shop next to the usual Gallery and Portfolio items. That tells you what it was built for.
You create a client and assign galleries to them. The client logs in and sees only their own sets. In a proofing gallery they approve or reject each frame, so the album picks come back as marks on the images instead of a list of file numbers in an email.
WooCommerce is supported. Each gallery image can carry its own purchase link, which is a simple way to sell prints without building a product per photo. The theme ships 24 importable demos and more than 70 gallery and portfolio templates, built with ThemeGoods' own content builder instead of Elementor. It costs $69 on ThemeForest, has 17,644 sales and a 4.58 rating from 895 reviews, and was last updated on 25 September 2026.
Pros
- Client logins and approve/reject proofing are built in
- Per-image purchase links for print sales
- By far the largest review base in this list
- Updated three days before we checked it
Cons
- No booking page in the demo
- The bundled builder is its own, so Elementor habits do not carry over
- The demo's sidebar advertises a $59 price on the author's own store, which can be confusing next to ThemeForest's $69
- Selling prints still means setting up WooCommerce yourself
Novo

Novo covers the most ground of any theme here. Its photographer demo has a proofing gallery, a separate password-protected gallery, a booking page and a shop, all reachable from the menu.
Every homepage comes in a light and a dark version. There are homepages for a single photographer, an agency, a freelancer, a shop and a one-page site. There's also a musician layout, which is odd in this company but does no harm.
You can build it with Elementor or WPBakery, and Elementor Pro works too. WooCommerce support runs up to version 10. If you only need one of those extras, you carry the weight of the rest anyway. Novo is $79 on ThemeForest with 9,351 sales and a 4.78 rating from 210 reviews, and it was last updated on 8 July 2026. When we checked, the author's own site was selling a single-site licence for $59.
Pros
- Proofing, protected galleries, booking and a shop in one demo
- Light and dark version of every homepage
- Choice of Elementor or WPBakery
- Highest rating of the proofing-capable themes
Cons
- A lot to set up if you only want a portfolio
- The ThemeForest price is $20 more than the author's own store was charging
- The musician and business demos add clutter to the import list
- One site per Regular licence
Wiso Photography

Wiso has the most complete proofing page we found in a theme. On the demo's proof gallery a client can select and deselect images and leave comments on them. They can also download the set as a ZIP file or a PDF. That covers most of what a wedding photographer uses a separate proofing service for. It all runs on a plugin that fox-themes bundles with the theme.
A second demo homepage adds appointment booking with a calendar and an add-to-Google-Calendar button. WooCommerce handles prints and packages.
The layout is light, with a centred logo and a carousel of portrait-format images. It suits family and wedding work more than moody editorial. Wiso costs $79 with 2,639 sales and a 4.35 rating from 69 reviews, which is the lowest rating here. It was updated on 2 September 2026.
Pros
- Client comments, selection and ZIP/PDF download on the proofing page
- Booking with Google Calendar is included
- Lazy loading for long galleries
- Recent update, and compatible with WordPress 7.0
Cons
- Built on WPBakery, which fewer people learn now than Elementor
- The lowest rating in this comparison
- Proofing and booking run on plugins the author bundles, not on widely used ones such as picu
- The light design takes work to make dark or dramatic
PhotoMe

PhotoMe is the older sibling of the ThemeGoods Photography theme, and it shares the client area and the proofing gallery. The proofing template shows each image's file name next to its approved or rejected status. That saves a step when you go back to Lightroom to find the picks. The demo has client pages with named clients, so you can see how it looks from their side before buying.
It has over 50 gallery and portfolio templates and 12 blog layouts, and it uses the same ThemeGoods builder.
One practical warning. The obvious demo address shows a blank page, and the working demo sits at /photome/demo/. PhotoMe costs $64 with 6,877 sales and a 4.64 rating from 415 reviews, and was last updated on 17 December 2025.
Pros
- Proofing shows file names, which speeds up editing
- Client pages are set up in the demo
- Cheaper than its sibling
- Plain, bright design that suits most kinds of work
Cons
- No update since December 2025
- No booking page
- The design is older than the rest of this list
- If you want the same features with more recent work, the Photography theme is $5 more
Kimono

Kimono is the youngest theme here, at about two years old, and it looks it. You get vertical type, colour-block portraits and a dark-mode toggle. It ships 48 pre-built sites, 24 dark and 24 light, all in Elementor. Fashion, editorial and music photographers who care most about how the homepage feels will get the most choice for the money here.
It has no proofing. It does have a booking calendar page built on the Booked appointments plugin, which ties into WooCommerce, so a client can pick a slot and pay for it at checkout. It costs $45 with 812 sales and a 4.66 rating from 38 reviews, and was updated on 11 September 2026.
Pros
- Lowest price of the paid themes
- 48 demos in matching light and dark sets
- Paid session booking through WooCommerce
- Actively updated
Cons
- No client proofing or protected galleries listed
- Small sales and review count so far
- The loud typography does not suit wedding or family work
- Needs Elementor for every change
PremiumPress Stock Photography Theme

This one is ours, and it answers a narrower question than the rest of the list. It isn't a portfolio theme and it has no proofing.
It's for a photographer who wants to sell image downloads from their own domain, the way Shutterstock or Adobe Stock do, without paying a marketplace commission. You upload photos or video clips and attach personal, commercial and extended licence prices to each one. The download link is released only after payment clears. Buyers get an account for re-downloads and can save favourites to lightboxes.
You can also sell download credits or subscription plans. Or open contributor accounts, so other photographers upload their work and you take a share you set. Search filters by keyword, colour and orientation, and 30+ payment gateways are included, among them Stripe and PayPal. It costs $99 one-time for every site you own, with 6 months of updates and support and a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Pros
- Licensed downloads with protected links, no WooCommerce needed
- Credits, subscriptions and contributor payouts built in
- One licence covers every site you own
- You keep sales apart from the gateway's fee
Cons
- No client proofing or booking
- Looks like a stock library, not a personal portfolio
- Only worth it if you have enough images to sell
- Updates after the first 6 months are a paid renewal
Frame

Frame is a production-company theme from AncoraThemes. The homepage headline in the demo reads "Video Production". The pages are built around services, projects and a team, so it fits a studio that shoots commercial stills and video for brands. An online booking page runs on the QuickCal plugin, and a WooCommerce shop is set up.
The demo opens with an email subscribe pop-up and a chat bubble, which you'd switch off before launch. There's no proofing.
Frame costs $69 with 483 sales and a perfect 5.00 rating, though that comes from only 17 reviews. It was updated on 9 June 2026.
Pros
- Service and project pages suit commercial clients
- Booking page included
- Handles video as well as stills
- 5.00 rating
Cons
- Only 17 reviews behind that rating
- No proofing or client galleries
- Reads as an agency, not a solo photographer
- Demo pop-ups need removing
Drone Media

Drone Media also comes from AncoraThemes, and it's aimed at one job. The homepage says "Aerial Drone Videography" in very large letters. The demos include a page for a single drone, a services page, two shop layouts and a personal portfolio. If most of your income is property, construction or event footage shot from the air, the page structure is already right.
It needs Elementor and uses Slider Revolution for the big headers, so check your hosting before loading several video backgrounds. It costs $69 with 2,064 sales and a 4.82 rating from 62 reviews, and was updated on 9 June 2026.
Pros
- Built for drone and aerial services
- Service and shop pages ready
- Strong rating over nine years on sale
- Updated in 2026
Cons
- Too niche for general portrait or wedding work
- No proofing, protected galleries or booking
- Video headers and Slider Revolution add page weight
- Same chat widget in the demo as Frame
Fotografie

If you're starting out and would rather spend on a lens than a theme, Fotografie from Catch Themes is free on WordPress.org. It was updated on 4 June 2026. You get a large header image, a centred title bar and a plain area for posts and galleries made with the block editor. There's no builder to learn and nothing to renew.
Catch Themes lists the portfolio section, WooCommerce support and extra sliders as Pro features, and Fotografie Pro costs $59.99 a year. The reviews on WordPress.org are almost all about quick support. It has 3,000+ active installs and a 4.8 out of 5 rating from 25 ratings.
Pros
- Free, from the official theme directory
- Light and quick with no page builder
- Recently updated
- Support replies are well reviewed
Cons
- Portfolio and shop features need the $59.99 yearly Pro
- No proofing or booking
- One basic layout
- You will need a gallery plugin for anything fancy
Adding client proofing to the theme you already have
If your current theme is fine apart from proofing, a plugin is cheaper than switching. picu is the one built for it. It's free on WordPress.org, was updated on 25 September 2026, and has 2,000+ active installs and a score of 94 out of 100 from 55 ratings. You upload a set, send the client a link, and they mark their picks.
picu Pro costs $149 a year. It adds comments, star ratings, a target number of selections, watermarks, expiry dates and selling from the gallery.
Expect the client-facing gallery to look plain. One reviewer on WordPress.org gave it one star because the gallery ignored their theme's design. The developer replied that this is on purpose, since proofs are unfinished images that aren't meant to sit in the public site. Imagely's NextGEN Gallery also does proofing, but only from its Pro plan, which is $139.50 for the first year and $279 after that.
Final Thoughts
For a wedding or family photographer who proofs every job, Wiso's gallery is the most useful we tested, with comments plus ZIP and PDF download. Novo is the better pick if you also want a shop, protected galleries and booking, and it has a higher rating behind it.
The ThemeGoods Photography theme is the safest bet on track record, with client logins, proofing and per-image print links. PhotoMe does the same job for $5 less if you can live with an older design and no update since December.
Kimono suits fashion and editorial work on a budget and takes paid session bookings, but it has no proofing. Frame and Drone Media are for studios that sell commercial and aerial services more than galleries. If you mainly want to sell your images as licensed downloads, our Stock Photography theme is built for that and nothing else.
And if money is tight, start on Fotografie. Add picu when clients ask to choose their own images, and turn off WordPress's 2560-pixel downscale if you want full-size originals served.
