WordPress Themes for Podcasts in 2026 and the Feed Plugins Behind Them
By Mark Fail · · Updated

Most podcasters who go looking for a WordPress theme already have a show. The episodes sit on Spotify for Creators, Buzzsprout or Libsyn, the RSS feed comes from that host, and Apple and Spotify read it from there. What they want from WordPress is a home on their own domain with an episode archive, show notes people can search, a player that works on a phone and a page that sponsors can be sent to.
So the first decision is not the theme. It is who owns the feed. I checked two podcast themes, three free plugins and our own podcast theme on 7 October 2026, and sorted them by that question. Prices, sales, ratings and update dates come from each product's own page, and the sources are at the end.

| Resonator | $85 | Theme | Not documented | Not documented | A polished show site with a shop |
| Seriously Simple Podcasting | Free | Plugin | Yes, one per show | No | Moving your feed into WordPress |
| PowerPress | Free | Plugin | Yes, plus category feeds | No | Long-running shows with big archives |
| Podcast Player | Free, paid Pro | Plugin | No, it reads your host's feed | No | Keeping your current host |
| PremiumPress Podcast (ours) | $99, not on sale yet | Theme | Yes, per show | Yes | Podcast networks with paid tiers |
Wpcast

Wpcast from QantumThemes is the only theme here that solves the problem listeners notice first. Open the demo, press play on an episode, then click into Series or Authors, and the audio carries on. The player bar sits under the main menu with skip, download and a playlist button, and an Ajax navigation plugin swaps the page around it instead of reloading. The theme also writes its own feed. Every archive and every series produces a podcast RSS feed that the item page calls valid for Apple Podcasts, and it still works alongside PowerPress or Seriously Simple Podcasting if you already use one of them.
Two things to know before buying. The page builder is WPBakery, which feels dated if you are used to Elementor or the block editor, and there are only two demo homepages. In the comments the author also explains that the non-stop player is switched off for logged-in admins, so test it in a private window before you report it as broken. Wpcast costs $79 and has 1,072 sales with a 4.92 rating from 24 reviews on ThemeForest. The last update was 1 August 2025, which is over a year ago.
Pros
- Audio keeps playing while visitors move between pages
- Generates an RSS feed per archive and per series
- Series cards play the latest episodes straight from the grid
- Works with PowerPress and Seriously Simple Podcasting
Cons
- Built on WPBakery, not Elementor
- Only two demo homepages
- No update since August 2025
- The Extended licence is $2,600 if listeners pay for access
Resonator

Resonator from Edge-Themes looks the most finished of the paid themes. The demo leads with a big "New episode available now" banner, listen buttons for Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud, and a player card with 10-second skip controls sitting across the bottom of the hero. Behind it there is a podcast post type, season lists, a season player, episode transcripts and nine homepages, all built with the free version of Elementor. WooCommerce is supported, so merch can live on the same site.
It is a website theme, though, not a feed tool.
The item page talks about the player and Apple Podcasts links but says nothing about generating an RSS feed, so plan on keeping your host or adding one of the plugins below. Nothing on the page suggests the player survives a click to another page either. One buyer wrote five months ago that single-post settings were not applying to podcast pages, and the author's reply opened with an apology for the slow response. Resonator costs $85 and has 771 sales with a 4.11 rating from 9 reviews, last updated on 24 March 2026.
Pros
- Nine homepages built with the free Elementor
- Season lists, a season player and transcripts on episode pages
- WooCommerce support for selling merch
- Updated in March 2026 with a WPML config file
Cons
- No documented RSS feed generation
- No mention of a player that keeps going between pages
- Only nine ratings, so little buyer feedback
- A recent comment points to slow support replies
Seriously Simple Podcasting

If you want WordPress itself to be the source of your feed, this is the plugin I would start with.
It works with any theme. Episodes become their own post type, each show on the site gets its own RSS feed, and the plugin can import an existing show from Libsyn, Buzzsprout, Podbean and similar hosts so the archive does not have to be rebuilt by hand.
The free plugin covers the feed, an HTML5 player, six block editor blocks and a free stats add-on. File hosting, private feeds, transcripts and ads come from Castos, the company behind it, and that part is paid. Recent reviews on WordPress.org are almost all five stars, with one complaint that not everything is free. Seriously Simple Podcasting has 30,000+ active installs and a 4.7 rating from 329 reviews, and version 3.17.0 came out on 12 August 2026.
Pros
- Separate RSS feeds for several shows on one site
- Imports existing episodes from the common hosts
- Block editor blocks for players and episode lists
- Free listener stats add-on
Cons
- Hosting, private feeds and transcripts need a paid Castos plan
- No player that carries on across page changes
- Audio stored on your own server uses your bandwidth
PowerPress

PowerPress from Blubrry is the older of the two feed plugins and it shows in both directions. It has more switches than anything else in this list. There are category feeds and channels for several shows, Podcasting 2.0 tags, a subscribe page, migration tools for Libsyn, SoundCloud and Spotify for Podcasters, and a player block plus a classic-editor episode box. Shows with hundreds of episodes and a decade of history tend to end up here.
The settings are the complaint, and they have been for years.
Reviews on WordPress.org describe the interface as confusing, and one three-star review points out that episodes are ordinary posts rather than their own post type. Blubrry's paid hosting adds certified stats, transcripts and audio mastering. PowerPress has 20,000+ active installs and a 4.6 rating from 231 reviews, with version 11.17.11 released on 1 October 2026.
Pros
- Category feeds and channels for networks of shows
- Podcasting 2.0 feed tags
- Migration tools from the main hosts
- Updated within the last week
Cons
- Reviewers call the settings screens confusing
- Episodes are regular posts, not a separate post type
- The better stats need paid Blubrry hosting
Podcast Player

This is the plugin for the podcaster in my first paragraph, the one whose host already runs the feed and who has no wish to move it. You paste your feed URL into Podcast Player and it builds a player with the full episode list, live episode search and subscribe buttons on any page of any theme. New episodes appear on the site when they appear in the feed, so there is nothing to upload twice.
It does not create a feed, and it never claims to.
The Pro version adds more layouts, season filters, uploading MP3s without a feed and turning episodes into WordPress posts, which is the step you need if you want show notes indexed as pages. Podcast Player has 10,000+ active installs and a 4.8 rating from 113 reviews, and version 8.3.4 was released on 1 October 2026.
Pros
- Works from your current host's feed, no migration
- Episode search inside the player
- Runs on any theme
- Very good reviews and recent updates
Cons
- No feed of its own
- Episodes as WordPress posts needs Pro
- One reviewer found the review requests pushy
PremiumPress (ours)

We make this one, and it is not finished yet.
Our Podcast theme is in development, the product page expects it in late 2026, and for now it has a "Notify me when it's live" button instead of a checkout. I have put it last for that reason.
It is aimed at a bigger job than one show. The plan covers a network of shows and artists on one site, a sticky player that keeps going across pages and remembers where each listener stopped, chapters and transcripts on episode pages, and an RSS feed per show that leaves drafts and premium episodes out. Listeners could pay for bonus or early episodes through tiers you set, tip a show, or buy downloads. The listed price is $99 one-time for unlimited sites you own, with 6 months of updates and support, but there is no demo to try yet, so judge it once it ships.
Pros
- Planned per-show feeds with premium episodes kept out
- Planned player that keeps playing between pages
- Paid tiers, tips and downloads without extra plugins
Cons
- Not on sale yet, and no demo
- More than a single show needs
- Audio files live on your own hosting, so storage is yours to plan
Final thoughts
If your host already makes the feed and you are happy there, keep it. Put Podcast Player on whichever theme you like, write show notes as normal posts, and you are done for the price of nothing.
If you want WordPress to own the feed, pick the plugin first and the theme second. Seriously Simple Podcasting is the easier of the two and handles several shows cleanly. PowerPress has more depth for a big back catalogue, at the cost of busier settings. Whichever you choose, Apple's own rules say an episode's GUID must never change, so check that your existing episodes keep theirs before you switch the feed over.
For a theme built around audio, Wpcast is still the one that keeps playing between pages and writes its own feeds, but it has not been updated in over a year. Resonator is the better-looking site and the safer bet for Elementor users, paired with one of the feed plugins. If you are planning a network with paid tiers, our Podcast theme is aimed at that, though it is not out yet.
